Bucharest comments on Russian missile flight: crossing of Romanian airspace was not confirmed

Romania's Defense Ministry denies that a Russian missile crossed its airspace on December 25. NATO surveillance systems did not detect any border violations, and an investigation is underway.
The Romanian Ministry of National Defense commented on the Russian missile's flight, saying that "the crossing of Romanian airspace was not confirmed," UNN writes.

"Regarding the information in the public space that a Russian missile crossed the national airspace this morning, we make the following clarifications: Romania's air surveillance system, as part of the NATO integrated system that constantly monitors the air situation in the area, did not detect such a situation," the Romanian Ministry of National Defense said on December 25.
Reportedly, "the Romanian military leadership was informed by the Ukrainian military leadership that around 7:30 a.m., a missile of the Russian Federation armed forces, which would have had consequences in the Chernivtsi region, Ukraine, was to pass through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and for about two minutes through the airspace of Romania in the northern part, near the city of Darabani.
"According to the monitoring data of Romanian air surveillance systems and the data provided by NATO assets that complement the monitoring in Romania's area of responsibility, the crossing of Romanian airspace was not confirmed," the Romanian Defense Ministry said.
The competent structures of the Ministry, as noted, "will continue to investigate this situation to clarify all the circumstances".
"Also, the forces and means involved in the combat service of the air police - under national and NATO command - remain on constant duty to protect national and allied airspace," the Romanian defense ministry said.
