Borrell on authorization to strike deep into Russia: it is not enough to stop the enemy, you need to inflict damage
Kyiv • UNN
EU High Representative Josep Borrell supported Ukraine's right to strike military targets in Russia. He also called for more weapons to be provided to Ukraine and faster.
It is quite fair to have permission to strike at military targets in Russia, because it is not enough to stop the enemy, it is necessary to inflict damage. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell during a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, UNN reports.
Borrell noted that it is important to provide Ukraine with tanks and fighter jets.
"I'm always pushing for more and faster, that's been my constant call. We have to do more and faster, and it's still true. More military support, more training opportunities, more money. Also, the permission to strike military targets on (Russian territory - ed.) It's not enough to stop the enemy, you have to strike. You insist on this and it is quite right," Borrell said.
Addendum
In September, Borrell said that some EU countries support lifting restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western weapons against military targets in Russia, and that this decision has not yet been made, but discussions are ongoing.
