Energy workers are gradually stabilizing and restoring the operation of thermal power plants after Russia's massive ballistic missile attack, but the electricity deficit persists. Hourly blackouts are being applied in most regions of Ukraine, with the most difficult situation in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions.
On November 8, 196 combat engagements were recorded on the front, of which 73 attacks were repelled in the Pokrovsk direction. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to inflict significant losses on the occupiers in manpower and equipment.
District police officer Chingiz Gurbanov was killed in Donetsk region after the enemy hit his car. The 42-year-old police major served in the Kramatorsk district and had parents, a wife, a 17-year-old daughter, and a 14-year-old son.
In the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region, an enemy FPV drone attacked a minibus, injuring three civilians. The victims, including the driver and two passengers, were taken to the hospital with mine-blast injuries and burns.
DTEK updated power outage schedules for November 7 for household consumers in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Kyiv regions. At the same time, DTEK noted that updated information would be published in case of changes.
On November 7, electricity consumption shows an upward trend. Hourly blackouts are applied in most regions of Ukraine: a significant number of consumers in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions remain without power.
The Kremlin has included the occupied territories of Donbas, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions in the Southern Military District, creating a basis for forced mobilization. Putin announced year-round conscription starting in 2026 and introduced electronic summonses, increasing the risk of illegal conscription of Ukrainians.
On November 6, Russians attacked a passenger bus in the Kramatorsk community of Donetsk region with a drone. As a result of the FPV drone strike with a warhead, passengers were injured.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has ordered an investigation into how 17 South Africans ended up on the front line in the Donetsk region. They appealed to the government for help, presumably having been recruited as mercenaries.

The SBU counterintelligence detained a 32-year-old drug-addicted FSB agent in Donetsk region who was adjusting Russian air and artillery strikes on Kramatorsk. The perpetrator tracked the locations of command posts and checkpoints, as well as the routes of Defense Forces convoys.
