"The G7 summit in France brought important results for Ukraine. Most importantly, we agreed on additional reinforcement of Ukrainian air defense. There will be new steps to pressure Russia for the war, pressure for the sake of peace," Zelenskyy wrote on social media.
According to him, "partners will ensure support for our defense and energy resilience."
"It is important that we have a common understanding of the main challenges and concrete steps to respond to them. Our global unity truly reduces Russia's ability to continue this insane and criminal aggression against Ukraine. Thank you to everyone who helps us!" Zelenskyy emphasized.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha also reported that "following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's work at yesterday's summit in Evian, we welcome the strong statement by the Group of Seven with new steps to support Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia."
"I would like to particularly note the positive change in tone and assessments, as well as their greater convergence between Ukraine and our G7 allies. We welcome such unity and strength. The G7 once again proves that the world's strongest democracies stand in solidarity with Ukraine and are committed to restoring a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine. This is an important signal of support that Ukraine highly values," Sybiha indicated.
He also expressed sincere gratitude to the G7 "for the readiness to take concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, air defense, and energy resilience, as well as to strengthen sanctions against Russia." "Since Russia shows no readiness for good-faith diplomacy, it is necessary to use available levers of influence to finally bring it to the negotiating table. Together we are stronger," the Minister emphasized.
Sybiha also stated during a telethon that "President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team are holding meetings on the sidelines of the G7 summit for one goal – bringing a just peace closer." "We are using every chance to make this happen," he noted.
The Foreign Minister also pointed out that "it is important that Ukrainian assessments and the assessments of our partners regarding the situation on the battlefield and the development of the situation in Russia coincide." And that "in Europe and the US, there is a limit to patience regarding Russia's manipulations and its rejection of peace efforts."
