World Meteorological Day
The event was established in honor of the creation of the World Meteorological Organization on March 23, 1950.
Since ancient times, people have sought various ways to predict the weather. They have come down to us in the form of folk omens. The term "meteorology" was introduced by the ancient Greek scientist and philosopher Aristotle.
For a long time, meteorology was a descriptive science. In the early 17th century, the Italian scientist Galileo Galilei constructed a thermoscope, which showed changes in temperature. The design of the device was quite primitive: it had no scale, and there were no units of measurement either. Despite this, the thermoscope became the prototype of modern thermometers. In 1643, Galileo's student Evangelista Torricelli made the first barometer.
Astronomer Edmond Halley developed a theory of regional wind systems based on the study of trade winds and monsoons.
In 1724, Gabriel Fahrenheit introduced his temperature scale, and in 1742, Anders Celsius's scale appeared. In 1806, the Irish hydrographer Francis Beaufort proposed a scale for determining wind speed.
In 1817, the German geographer-naturalist Alexander von Humboldt published the first temperature map, and his research laid the foundation for a new science - climatology. Meteorological services began to be created in many countries.
The first weather forecast for the next day was published in 1861 in the British newspaper "Times". Its author was the head of the meteorological department, Vice-Admiral Robert FitzRoy,
In 1963, the World Weather Watch was established.

Puppy Day
Every year on March 23, the USA celebrates a positive and good national holiday – Puppy Day. The event was created in 2006 at the initiative of Colleen Paige, a pet education specialist.
The purpose of this day is to draw attention to the care of puppies from shelters and those who do not have a home and a loving family. This day encourages choosing a four-legged family member from a shelter. This day also draws attention to terrible kennels that exploit dogs for constant puppy breeding.
Atheist Day
The term "atheism" first appeared in medieval Europe more than 400 years ago.
Nowadays, there are over four thousand religions in the world, and almost each of them is associated with holidays and rituals.
Although atheists do not believe in God, they also chose a special day to create Atheist Day, to honor freedom of thought and expression, which is an important aspect of atheism.
Beautiful Look Day
This event is primarily a professional day for specialists in eye and eyebrow beauty – those people who skillfully perfect our look.
OK Day
This day is dedicated to the legacy of a word that started as a joke, but became the basis of communication around the world. On this day, it is worth remembering the importance of affirmation, positivity, and the unifying power of language.
According to the church calendar, today is the day of remembrance of Saint Nikon and his 199 disciples.
The man lived in the 3rd century, his father was a pagan, and his mother was a Christian.
Nikon served in the army, once during a battle he was surrounded, began to pray and managed to survive.
After that, the man converted to Christianity, and later became a monk and preacher. He gained many followers.
During the intensification of persecution of Christians, Nikon and his disciples were captured, tortured long and cruelly, and then executed.
Name days on March 23 are celebrated by Nikon, Vasyl, Lidiya.
