Gizo Uglava, first deputy director of the NABU, accused the head of the bureau's disciplinary commission of bias. Uglava demands the recusal of Viktor Prudkovsky because of his previous statements regarding the investigation.

First Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Gizo Uglava continues to make resonant statements about his subordinates. This time, he complained to the bureau's disciplinary commission , calling its chairman Viktor Prudkovsky biased and biased, writes UNN.

It is worth noting that such statements began to be heard from the heads of the NABU only when they themselves were on the other side of the investigation.

"The public Control Council under the NABU (RGC) in June of this year, based on rumors spread by interested parties, categorically stated that I was involved in the disclosure of information and I should be dismissed from the NABU. The conclusions were made "without trial and investigation." Viktor Prudkovskikh, a member of the RGC under the NABU of the previous and current convocations and one of the members of the NABU disciplinary commission, supported this groundless, unsubstantiated conclusion (as can be seen from his reaction to the publication on FB)," Uglava said.

In his opinion, this indicates that the chairman of the NABU disciplinary commission has "a pre-formed opinion on the results of consideration of the internal investigation.

"In order to avoid the possibility of manipulation when making a decision by the entire commission, I insist on recusal of Viktor Prudkovsky," the first deputy director of the NABU stressed and added that today he applied to the Disciplinary Commission for recusal.

Statements about the bias and political bias of the NABU have been repeatedly made, but the anti-corruption officers did not pay attention to them.

A clear example is the case of anti-corruption activists against former Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan. He has repeatedly stated that detectives were one-sided in the case against him because of political bias. Both cases against him collapsed in the courts, but the NABU did not officially apologize to the ex-minister for illegal criminal prosecution and damage to business reputation.

There is also concern about violations of the presumption of innocence by the NABU, as in cases against Mykola rural and MP  Serhiy Kuzminykh.

The Kharkiv Human Rights group also criticized NABU for statements that violate the presumption of innocence. The real reason for the persecution of rural areas there is considered to be the reform of the land market in Ukraine.

Gizo Uglava only after he became a person involved in the NABU investigation, acknowledged the existence of serious problems during the investigation conducted by anti-corruption officers, and noted that the bureau is focused not on establishing the truth, but on achieving "external goals".

At the end of May, the NABU got into a scandal - it became known about the possible disclosure of Data of the pre-trial investigation by representatives of the bureau. Because of this, NABU director Semyon Krivonos suspended his first deputy Gizo Uglava from performing his duties for the duration of the pre-trial investigation.

After that, Uglova statedthat the bureau was under threat of losing independence , and detectives are under political pressure, which significantly reduces the effectiveness of the fight against corruption.

NABU director Semyon Krivonos at a briefing on August 9 saidthat the internal investigation into possible pressure on whistleblowers , in which Uglava appears, has been completed, and violations have been recorded. Krivonos stressed that this internal investigation of the leak of information from the NABU does not concern, another pre-trial investigation is being conducted regarding the "plums" and its results will be reported separately.
