According to Madison Police Chief Sean Barnes, two of the injured are in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while the other four suffered moderate to minor injuries.
Police responded quickly, as the police training center is located 5 kilometers from the school. The officers who entered the building did not use weapons.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his condolences to the victims and their families.
“We are praying for the children, teachers and the entire Abundant Life school community, and we are grateful to the rescuers for their efficiency,” the governor said.
Police have established that the shooter used a 9 mm pistol, but the motive for the crime remains unknown. The police chief noted that detectives are making every effort to find answers.
“We don't know why this happened, but we need to understand so we can prevent this from happening in the future,” Barnes added.
The White House statement said that President Joe Biden had been informed of the shooting and officials were in contact with local authorities to provide assistance.
