The UN Secretary-General called for adherence to freedom of navigation in the Middle East. Iran announced the opening of the strait for the duration of the ceasefire.
Secretary-General António Guterres reaffirmed the position of the United Nations - a full restoration of international navigation rights and freedoms in the Strait of Hormuz, observed by all parties, is needed. This was reported by AP with reference to the statement of the UN Secretary-General's spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, transmitted by UNN.

Guterres supports diplomatic efforts "to find a peaceful way out of the current conflict in the Middle East," Dujarric said.
"He also hopes that, along with the ceasefire, this measure will contribute to building trust between the parties and strengthening the ongoing dialogue facilitated by Pakistan," the spokesman said.
