The Export-Import Bank of the United States has approved a $156.6 million loan to Ukrzaliznytsia for the purchase of about 40 diesel locomotives, which will strengthen Ukraine's logistics capabilities and infrastructure development in the wartime.

The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) has approved a loan agreement with Ukrzaliznytsia in the amount of $156.6 million to purchase about 40 diesel locomotives. This is reported by the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Details

According to U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker, this agreement is an example of the efforts of the U.S. Government and the private sector to strengthen the resilience and capacity of a strategically important enterprise for Ukraine.  

Minister of Community, Territorial and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov emphasized that this announcement of such high-level cooperation is an important signal for international businesses to work in Ukraine.

Every cent of aid for Ukrainian Railways is not only an investment in our logistics capabilities and infrastructure development. It is a contribution to the defense capability and stability of our country

The agency said that EXIM President and Chairman of the Board of Directors Rhea Jo Lewis met in Kyiv with Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov with the participation of US Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, and Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Yevhen Lyashchenko.
