Ukrainian Milaniya Kokhan became the U18 European champion in hammer throw

17-year-old Ukrainian track and field athlete Milaniya Kokhan won gold at the U18 European Championships in Italy, setting a personal record. Her brother Mykhailo Kokhan also won this tournament in 2018.
Ukrainian track and field athlete Milaniya Kokhan won a gold medal at the European Athletics Under-18 Championships. The 17-year-old hammer thrower won the competition in the Italian city of Rieti. This was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, writes UNN.
From July 15 to 19, the European Athletics Under-18 Championships took place in Rieti, Italy. The competition gathered over 1,100 athletes from 48 participating countries. Ukraine was represented at the continental championship by 34 athletes
The only award for our national team at this tournament was won by 17-year-old Milaniya Kokhan. In the final, on her decisive attempt, she sent the 3-kilogram hammer to 70.19 meters, setting a personal record and outperforming her opponent from France.
It is noted that Milaniya's success continues the sports dynasty of the Kokhan family. Her older brother, Olympic bronze medalist Mykhailo Kokhan, also won his first European U18 championship at the age of 17.
In 2018, he won with a European record in this age category (87.82 m), which still stands. After that, Mykhailo triumphed at the continental U20 and U23 championships, reaching the Olympic podium. Both athletes are now coached by their father.
