Ukraine sees no legal or factual issues regarding the Hungarian minority – Kachka

Ukraine considers the issue of ensuring the rights of the Hungarian national minority to be settled and hopes for further constructive dialogue with Budapest. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka during a conversation with journalists in Luxembourg, reports UNN.

According to the official, the issues of national minorities are thoroughly accounted for in Ukrainian legislation and reform plans implemented as part of the European integration process.

We have clarifications and additional provisions regarding national minorities, which are reflected both in the legislation and in the action plans. They concern all national communities living in Ukraine, with the exception of the language of the aggressor state. This is clearly defined and leaves no room for double interpretations

– said Kachka.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian side sees no grounds for accusations of violating the rights of the Hungarian community.

We consider this approach constructive and balanced. The Hungarian minority in Ukraine fully exercises its rights, preserves its cultural and linguistic identity, participates in public life and develops within the Ukrainian legal framework. We see neither factual nor legal problems in this matter

– noted the Deputy Prime Minister.

Kachka added that Ukraine counts on continuing the dialogue with the Hungarian authorities.

We hope for pragmatic and constructive cooperation with the government of Hungary in the future. The issue of national minorities should not become a tool for political disputes, especially when it comes to the strategic future of Ukraine in the European Union

– he emphasized.
