US Secretary of State Marco Rubio doubts a diplomatic resolution to the conflict with Cuba. The Trump administration does not rule out the option of military action.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the Trump administration seeks to find a diplomatic solution to its differences with the Cuban government, but is not particularly optimistic about the possibility of achieving it, UNN reports with reference to the AP.

The publication notes that Rubio's comments leave open the possibility of military action against Cuba, especially following the terrorism charges brought against former President Raúl Castro earlier this week.
"The President always prefers a peaceful, negotiated settlement," Rubio told reporters before departing Miami for Sweden and India. "That is always our preference. That remains our preference regarding Cuba. I'm just telling you honestly. You know, the likelihood of that, given who we are dealing with right now, is low."
He added that "our preference in Cuba and anywhere in the world is a diplomatic, negotiated settlement."
