U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "will under no circumstances be arrested" during his visit to the United States, refuting recent claims by New York City Mayor Eric Adams that his office is considering the possibility of arresting the prime minister during the UN General Assembly, reports UNN citing CNN.
"Benjamin Netanyahu will under no circumstances be arrested while in the United States of America. He is fighting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which recently killed 52,000 innocent protesters and for the last 47 years has been killing American soldiers and other people," Trump wrote in his post on Truth Social.

Adams stated in a New York Times podcast that the legal department of his administration is actively discussing the possibility of arresting Netanyahu, which he promised to do during his election campaign.
"I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu should be in The Hague," Adams said on the "Interview" podcast. "He is a war criminal who has been indicted by the International Criminal Court. And you will find that many people hold this view solely because of the consequences of his actions over the past many years."
When asked what he believes the law allows him to do, Adams replied: "This is a subject of active discussion in our legal department. However, at the national level, we see a desire to sometimes write our own laws, to go beyond legality. That does not interest us."
