Toyota has launched the new sixth-generation RAV4 in the European market

Toyota has introduced the sixth generation of the RAV4 in Europe, for the first time implementing the Arene software development platform along with a new plug-in hybrid system (PHEV) that provides up to 137 km of electric range in the WLTP combined cycle. The model is available in hybrid and PHEV versions with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. This was reported by Automotive World, writes UNN.

The Arene platform underpins Toyota's new Toyota Connect multimedia system and the updated Toyota Safety Sense suite, with the onboard processor operating four times faster than the previous generation. New safety systems include a rear vehicle proximity indicator, front cross-traffic alert, and a post-collision secondary braking system that automatically stops the car after an impact.

The new PHEV system is equipped with a 22.68 kWh lithium-ion battery—30% larger than its predecessor—and supports 50 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. An 11 kW AC charger is also provided, which is twice as fast as the previous one. In the all-wheel-drive version, the total system output is 309 hp, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.8 seconds.

The hybrid version consumes up to 5.8 liters of fuel per 100 km in the WLTP combined cycle and develops 194 hp in the all-wheel-drive modification. A GR Sport version is also available with a revised suspension, improved aerodynamics, and exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels.

The sixth generation RAV4 is now available for order across Europe.
