Today is the third anniversary of the liberation of Sumy region from the occupiers: the head of the OVA spoke about the current situation on the border

Today, Sumy region is determined to prevent the enemy and fully supports the Ukrainian defense forces. Also, more than 15,000 residents have been evacuated from the border area due to the fact that the Russians have not abandoned attempts to expand the "gray zone" in the Sumy region.

This was announced on the telethon by Volodymyr Artyukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reports the correspondent of UNN.

Artyukh noted that Sumy region continues to increase fortification in the region. Also, according to him, a powerful air defense system was created in the last 7 months, thanks to which more than 1,600 UAVs were destroyed.

We continue to prepare our settlements, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial communities conduct appropriate training on protection, and preparations are being made for the national resistance of our population, as the enemy neglects the rules of warfare. Over these three years, we have lost more than a hundred people and have thousands of wounded

The head of the Regional Military Administration also said that the Russians have not abandoned attempts to expand the "gray zone" in Sumy region, in connection with which the assault actions on their part in some directions have intensified, but the enemy is suffering losses.

The enemy's attempt is to expand the territory, to enter the territory of Sumy region in the direction of Basivka. The enemy's assault actions take place there every day, in recent times there have been dozens of such actions, they are trying to hold on, but they are being destroyed by the courageous and professional actions of our units

According to the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Russian DRGs do not stop trying to enter the territory of the region - mainly in order to destabilize the situation, in particular, to cause panic among the local population.

The enemy is trying to create panic moods in the territory of Sumy region by the actions of DRGs. At the same time, our troops are currently in the territory of Kursk region and are performing tasks there

Also, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration highlighted the situation with the evacuation of the local population from the border area. Artyukh stressed that this time the security measures were carried out in advance and 199 settlements were included in the evacuation plan. 49 settlements were transferred to the command and control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The 5-kilometer zone is almost completely evacuated. The 10-kilometer zone from the border is now also almost completely freed from the population and we have already made a decision at the last Defense Council to increase it to 17 km, we are also evacuating certain settlements where there may be intense shelling according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to him, in the last three months of this year, most people were evacuated from Krasnopilska, Myropilska, Yunakivska, and Khotynska communities.

In total, more than 15,000 people were evacuated there and this work continues. There are 3-4% left there. These are those who do not want to, have not made a decision. But almost 100% of children from these communities have been evacuated
