Prosecutors of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office have submitted to court an indictment against 13 individuals involved in the kidnapping, torture, and murder of peaceful residents during the occupation of Izium
Among the accused are 11 servicemen of the Russian-controlled "LPR" formation, as well as an "LPR" deputy and the head of the "DPR Union of Cinematographers." In 2022, they kidnapped local residents, illegally detained them, beat them, and threatened them with execution while attempting to obtain information about Ukrainian military personnel, ATO veterans, and people who assisted the Defense Forces.
The abuse of the victims was recorded on video, and the recordings were used to create propaganda stories about the alleged "struggle against Banderites."
One of the episodes concerns the murder of a 46-year-old Plast member and assistant to a deputy of the Izium City Council. After detaining and beating him, the occupiers killed the man and left his body near a railway crossing.
All defendants are charged with high treason and violation of the laws and customs of war. All of them are currently on the wanted list.
