Third occupier involved in the murder of writer Vakulenko is suspected

A 36-year-old LPR militant with the call sign “Akademik” was served a notice of suspicion in the murder of writer Vakulenko. The suspect was involved in the abduction, torture and murder of the writer and three other people in Izium district.

The third occupier involved in the murder of Ukrainian writer Vakulenko was served a notice of suspicion, UNN reports, citing the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

"...  a 36-year-old 'lPR' militant was served in absentia with a notice of suspicion of cruel treatment of civilians, combined with premeditated murder and other violations of the laws and customs of war provided for by international treaties, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons who agreed in advance, before the commencement of the criminal offense, to commit it jointly (part. 2 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Parts 1, 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.

He was a native of Luhansk, deputy commander of the 4th company of the 4th battalion of the 204th rifle regiment of the "lnr" 2nd army corps of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the southern military district of the Russian Federation with the call sign "Academician".

In March 2022, he and the occupiers, including "Lev" and "Udod" and others, abducted the writer from his home in the village of Kapytolivka, Izyum district. The suspect took part in the illegal detention, torture and murder of Vakulenko, as well as an ATO participant and two local residents.
