The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to ensure unimpeded access of humanitarian aid to Gaza amid deteriorating living conditions and alleged genocide against Palestinians.

On March 28, the International Court of Justice issued new provisional measures against Israel as the humanitarian situation in bombed-out Gaza continues to deteriorate. According to the court's decision, Israel must take all necessary measures to ensure the unimpeded supply of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. This is stated on the court's website, UNN reports.

It is noted that the International Court of Justice issued a new order in response to a recent request from the Republic of South Africa, which filed a case in December accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 32,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes and attacks since then.

The ICJ's provisional measures state that Israel, "in view of the deteriorating living conditions of Palestinians in Gaza, including the spread of hunger," must take "all necessary and effective measures to ensure, without delay, full cooperation" with the United Nations to provide, without hindrance, urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance  to Palestinians throughout Gaza by all concerned.

The measures state that the necessary assistance includes food, water, electricity, fuel, shelter, clothing, hygiene and sanitation, as well as medical and health care.

The ICJ's new order also calls on Israel, as a party to the Genocide Convention, to take these measures, "in particular by increasing the capacity and number of land crossings  and keeping them open as long as necessary.

The additional measures require Israel to "immediately ensure that its military does not commit acts that constitute a violation of any of the rights of the Palestinians in Gaza as a protected group" under the Genocide Convention.

This includes "obstructing by any means the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid".

The court also ruled that Israel must submit a report on all measures to the ICJ within one month.
