Tesla driver who caused fatal accident on Darnytskyi Bridge served with notice of suspicion in Kyiv

In Kyiv, a 32-year-old Tesla driver has been notified of suspicion regarding a fatal traffic accident on the Darnytskyi Bridge, which resulted in the death of a passenger in another car. According to the investigation, the man exceeded the speed limit while overtaking and caused several collisions. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN.

It has been established that the 32-year-old driver of the Tesla, while traveling in the second lane towards Naddniprianske Highway during an overtake of another vehicle, exceeded the speed limit and struck the rear of a Suzuki vehicle traveling in the same direction

After this, the Tesla driver continued moving and struck a Daewoo Lanos. As a result of the accident, a 64-year-old passenger of the Lanos died at the scene from her injuries.

The Tesla driver was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Expert examinations have been ordered to determine whether the driver was under the influence of prohibited substances.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the Tesla driver has been notified of suspicion of violating traffic safety rules that caused the death of the victim (Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It has currently been established that immediately before the fatal accident, the Tesla driver collided with a VAZ vehicle; however, despite the damage sustained by the cars, he fled the scene of the accident. It is also known that the suspect has been repeatedly held administratively liable for speeding.

Along with the notice of suspicion, the driver was served with a motion to select a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail.
