Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that sending Western troops to Ukraine, as proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron, is "not relevant now" for Sweden.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson responded to French President Emmanuel Macron's comments that sending Western troops to Ukraine in the future "cannot be ruled out," telling Swedish public broadcaster SVT that "it is not relevant at all now," UNN reports.
Now it is not relevant at all
The fact that Emmanuel Macron does not rule out sending troops to Ukraine does not affect Sweden, despite its accession to NATO, Kristersson said.
"If a country wants to send troops to another part of the world, this does not affect NATO," the Swedish prime minister said and continued: "The tradition of France is not the tradition of Sweden.
According to Le Monde, Kristersson noted that "at the moment we are busy sending advanced equipment to Ukraine in various ways". There is "no request" from the Ukrainian side for ground troops, Ulf Kristersson said. Therefore, "the issue is irrelevant," he insisted, however, as the newspaper writes, "not excluding such a possibility in the future."
