Sweden, as a new member of NATO, has no plans to deploy the alliance's nuclear weapons on its territory in peacetime, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg have said.

The Swedish prime minister emphasized that his country, which recently joined the Alliance, accepts all its capabilities and understands the need for the entire NATO defense capability, including the nuclear strategy.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg agreed with this position and assured that the Alliance forces have no plans to increase the number of countries possessing nuclear weapons.
