Spain national team coach calls behavior of Argentina national team players in the 2026 World Cup final unacceptable and inadmissible

Head coach of the Spanish national team Luis de la Fuente commented on the brawl at the end of the 2026 World Cup final, noting that the behavior of the Argentine national team players is unacceptable and inadmissible. De la Fuente said this on TVE, reports UNN

At that moment I did not notice it because I was celebrating with other people, hugging my teammates. In any case, it seems unacceptable and inadmissible to me for players of such a football level, whom I praised in previous days and who have an extremely talented coach

- said de la Fuente.

He also noted the behavior of the Spanish national team players.

They behaved with dignity all the time, like true athletes and footballers

- the coach noted.

Addendum

On July 19, the Spanish national team defeated the Argentine national team in the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, near New York.

The match ended with a minimal victory for "La Roja" - 1:0. The only goal in the match was scored by Ferran Torres. The match was also remembered for the rough play of the Argentines. At the end of the second half of regular time, midfielder of "Albiceleste" Enzo Fernández played roughly against Pau Cubarsí and received a second yellow card.

After the match ended, another Argentine national team midfielder, Leandro Paredes, could not contain his emotions. First, he pushed Eric García in the back, then grabbed the Spaniard by the neck.

In addition to Paredes, other representatives of Argentina were also seen in conflicts, in particular defender Nahuel Molina pushed the Spanish captain Rodri during the victory celebration, and the assistant head coach of the Argentine national team Roberto Ayala allegedly tried to hit Dani Olmo.

The match was also remembered for a funny moment involving US President Donald Trump, who did not want to leave the podium during the celebration of the Spanish national team.

Trump, together with Infantino, presented the cup to the captain of the Spanish national team Rodri. After that, the FIFA president left the stage, and Trump continued to stand next to Rodri. The Spanish captain tried to "remove" Trump, which he did not succeed immediately, after which the American president stepped aside and continued to stand on the podium until Infantino took him away.
