We plan to provide fast, convenient and comprehensive support to people who have been injured or faced a serious illness
The social insurance reform will not affect disability groups or the issue of disability determination. The medical system will remain in charge of determining disability.
Daria Marchak, First Deputy Minister of Social Policy, emphasized during the telethon that all people with a diagnosed disability will receive all the benefits and pensions they currently receive under current law. And the changes after the adoption of the draft law will apply to those people who have lost the ability to work due to injury, occupational or general illness, starting from January 2026.
Daria also noted that the maximum monthly insurance payment (in the event of an accident at work) will increase to 5 minimum wages - UAH 40 thousand, while the current maximum payment is UAH 32 thousand.
The sick leave will be paid for up to 14 months, as severe injuries or illnesses may require more time for treatment and recovery.
For people who cannot quickly return to work after completing rehabilitation, the State Employment Center's assistance in employment and unemployment benefits will continue until they are employed.
Recall
Earlier, UNN wrote that the Cabinet of Ministers supported the draft law on reforming the social insurance system starting in 2025. The new system provides for comprehensive support for people with injuries and illnesses without a mandatory disability status.
