Russia launched a massive artillery attack on Sumy today; 6 people are known to have been injured, reported Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on Friday, UNN reports.
Sumy. This morning, the enemy carried out a massive strike on the regional center. According to preliminary findings, the Russian army carried out the shelling using long-range artillery weapons. This is the third time since the beginning of the year that the Russians have attacked the Sumy community with this type of weaponry
According to him, "8 hits were recorded in the eastern part of the city."
According to his data, residential buildings, non-residential premises, vehicles, shops, and other civilian infrastructure objects were damaged.
As indicated by the State Emergency Service, rescuers had to work simultaneously at three different locations. Emergency workers extinguished a fire that broke out in a three-story residential building.
"As a result of the attack, six residents of the city were injured. A 56-year-old man sustained a severe injury. He is in the hospital, and medics are providing all necessary assistance," Hryhorov noted.
Two elderly people, according to him, were taken to a medical facility. After receiving treatment, they will be treated as outpatients. Others received assistance without hospitalization.
"Such attacks are aimed not only at destroying infrastructure but also at psychological pressure on people. Sumy region lives under constant threat. It is extremely important to remain vigilant and be ready to respond quickly to danger," Hryhorov emphasized.
