Russia is planning illegal State Duma elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine, ensuring turnout of over 65–70% and support for United Russia of at least 70%. This is being done to legitimize the occupation, said Andrii Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation.
Russia plans to hold illegal State Duma elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The Kremlin wants to ensure turnout there of more than 65–70% and at least 70% of the vote for "United Russia" in order to use the results to legitimize the occupation. This was reported by Andrii Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, according to UNN.

Kovalenko also pointed out that the current election campaign in Russia is being conducted under slogans supporting the continuation of the war against Ukraine.
According to him, all political forces allowed to participate in the elections effectively support the continuation of hostilities, while the only anti-war party, Yabloko, was demonstratively barred from participating so that it could not receive significant voter support.
In the view of the head of the CCD, this indicates that the Putin regime cannot envision its own future without war and is afraid to demonstrate even minimal support for anti-war sentiments.
At the same time, Kovalenko noted that the number of people inside Russia who oppose the continuation of the war is gradually growing. Such sentiments are most widespread in the regions, but they are also being recorded in Moscow, where rumors of a possible new wave of mobilization are viewed negatively.
According to him, these sentiments have not yet developed into organized protest.
But the same was true in the Soviet Union, which collapsed because of the economy and the negative sentiments of people who criticized the authorities in their kitchens in panel-block apartments and Khrushchev-era buildings
The elections in Russia will take place in September.
