Received $11,000 for "discharge" from service – National Guard Lieutenant Colonel caught taking a bribe for the second time in six months

A National Guard officer received $11,000 for promising to influence the discharge of a serviceman on health grounds. In January, he had already been suspected of bribery.

A lieutenant colonel of one of the territorial departments of the National Guard of Ukraine has been notified of suspicion of abuse of influence for the second time in less than six months, UNN reports, citing the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the investigation, this time the officer received 11,000 dollars for a promise to influence a decision that could serve as grounds for discharging a serviceman from service for health reasons. He claimed he could influence officials of the expert team for assessing daily functioning.
On May 18, 2026, the law enforcement officer was detained in Kharkiv after receiving the funds. The court ordered a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of posting bail.
However, this is already the second such episode. In January 2026, this same officer was notified of suspicion in another proceeding. That case involved 45,000 UAH for influencing a decision regarding the transfer of a serviceman to another unit. After posting bail, he was released from custody
