A toxic substance was found in HiPP jars with carrots and potatoes. The SPAR chain has recalled the products from 1,500 stores due to a threat to infant lives.

In Austria, police reported the discovery of rat poison in one of the baby food jars of the HiPP brand, after which the products were recalled from more than 1,500 SPAR supermarkets. Reuters writes about this, as reported by UNN.

Details

This refers to a 190-gram jar with the product "Carrots and Potatoes". A sample submitted by one of the customers tested positive for the presence of a poisonous substance.

HiPP stated that consuming the contents of such jars could be life-threatening.

Police reported that similar jars seized in the Czech Republic and Slovakia also contained a toxic substance, according to preliminary laboratory tests.

Customers were advised not to consume products purchased at SPAR Austria and to return them to stores for a full refund.

In addition, the police advise thoroughly washing hands after contact with suspicious packaging.
