37 states have approved the creation of the Steering Committee of the Special Tribunal in The Hague. It will try the top military and political leadership of Russia and Belarus for the crime of aggression.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha stated that the creation of the Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine has become a "point of no return" for the Russian leadership. According to him, the tribunal in The Hague must restore justice just as the Nuremberg trials once did, UNN reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

During the Ministerial Meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Chișinău, 37 states adopted a decision to approve the Enlarged Partial Agreement on the establishment of the Steering Committee of the Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
"Today is a historic day. We are making history. Like the Nuremberg Tribunal 80 years ago, this Special Tribunal in The Hague will restore justice upon the ruins of war,"
The Foreign Minister emphasized that the tribunal must ensure the accountability of Russia's top military and political leadership.
"Putin always wanted to go down in history. And this Tribunal will help him achieve that. He will go down in history. As a criminal. And not just him. Putin, Shoigu, Gerasimov, Bortnikov, Zolotov, Medvedev, Patrushev, Lukashenko, and others. Today, they all received their ticket to The Hague,"
Sybiha also emphasized that the creation of the tribunal is only the beginning of the process of international accountability for the aggression against Ukraine.
"The number of participating countries will increase. Premises will appear in The Hague. The first committee will start its work. And there will be verdicts. Ukraine needs this. Europe needs this. And even Russia itself needs this Tribunal,"
According to the minister, the accountability system will consist of three elements - the Special Tribunal, the International Compensation Commission, and the Register of Damage.
"Accountability will never be a subject of compromise. Justice is an integral element of a lasting peace,"
Separately, the Foreign Minister stated that Ukraine believed in the creation of the tribunal from the very beginning.
"Many people said we were dreamers. But the agreement lying before me is not a dream. It is reality. Ukraine believed in the Tribunal from the very beginning. And in the same way, I am confident, we will achieve peace, EU membership, and our other goals,"
