Pension indexation in 2025: when will it happen
Kyiv • UNN
In March 2025, Ukraine will index pensions by 13-17%. The minimum increase will be UAH 100, the maximum will be UAH 1,500, and pensioners aged 70-80 will receive an additional UAH 300-570.
In March 2025, pensions will be indexed in Ukraine, as provided by law. According to analysts, the recalculation will be carried out in accordance with the inflation rate of 13 to 17%, UNN reports.
"The recalculation will adjust pension payments. As for the amounts, the minimum indexation will be UAH 100, and the maximum will be UAH 1,500. People aged 70 to 80 will be entitled to an additional UAH 300 to 570. As for special pensions, the Parliamentary Committee on Social Policy is currently working to equalize and balance these payments," said MP Lesia Zaburanna.
She reminded that Ukraine has extended the UN program that provides additional support to certain groups of citizens.
"Now this program covers not only pensioners but also children and people with disabilities. The assistance is provided to those citizens who live in 8 regions where active hostilities are taking place or near this zone. The payment is calculated as follows: the basic payment from the state or social assistance is taken as UAH 3250. The UN pays the difference between this amount and the amount received by the citizen. For example, a person receives a minimum pension of UAH 2,400, so he or she can claim UAH 850 of assistance," the MP explained.
Lidia Tkachenko, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Demography and Social Studies, noted that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Social Policy assure that the draft budget for 2025 includes funds for pension indexation.
Nevertheless, as Tkachenko explains, the figures for possible increases will only be known early next year. The indexation of pensions depends on inflation in the country and the growth of wages from which the unified social tax is paid.
The Pension Fund regularly publishes statistics on its website. According to it, as of October 1, there were about 10.3 million pensioners in Ukraine. The average pension amount was UAH 5,852. According to Tkachenko, the distribution of pensioners by pension amount is very uneven. About half of the people receive pensions of 3-4 thousand UAH, and there are more than a million people who receive pensions of more than 10 thousand UAH.
