According to preliminary data, the crime occurred in January 2020 in a rented apartment in Podil. After the tenants left, the owner of the apartment found the bodies of two girls in the closet on the balcony, who were tied with tape and had numerous stab wounds.

It was established that the 34-year-old man inflicted 17 stab wounds on one victim and 28 on the other. He had invited both girls to the apartment the day before after meeting them near a supermarket. According to the investigation, he planned a robbery. The convicts had previously acted according to a similar scheme - they rented housing, invited people there, and robbed them.
Before the crime in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, they took a phone from a passerby, pawned it, and used the money to rent an apartment. His 19-year-old accomplice was in the apartment during the crime, helped clean up the blood, hide the bodies, and disposed of the victims' belongings. She was recognized as a co-perpetrator. In court, both repeatedly changed their testimonies and tried to shift the blame onto each other. These versions were not confirmed. The Court of Appeal rejected the convict's appeal.
