Kostyuk and Svitolina reached the Round of 16 at Roland Garros after defeating their opponents. Yulia Starodubtseva lost to Wang Xiyu and concluded her performance at the tournament.
Ukrainian tennis players Marta Kostyuk and Elina Svitolina have reached the round of 16 at Roland Garros 2026 in France. However, unfortunately, our other representative, Yulia Starodubtseva, was eliminated from the tournament after losing to China's Wang Xiyu, UNN reports.
Details
Yulia Starodubtseva was the first to start her match in France against China's Wang Xiyu. The match lasted nearly two hours and ended in a victory for the Chinese player — 6:3, 7:5.
Simultaneously, Marta Kostyuk began her match against Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic. Our representative secured a victory — 6:4, 6:3.
Kostyuk advanced to the round of 16 of the tournament, where she will face Poland's Iga Świątek. The match will take place on Sunday, May 31, at 12:00 Kyiv time.
Additionally, our other representative, Elina Svitolina, defeated Germany's Tamara Korpatsch — 6:2, 6:3. Svitolina, like Kostyuk, reached the round of 16, where she will play against the winner of the Peyton Stearns vs. Belinda Bencic match.
Currently, Bencic is leading in that pair.
