Italy opposes sending troops to Ukraine

Italy opposes the deployment of Western troops to Ukraine, preferring diplomatic efforts to end the war instead of escalating it.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crozetto has spoken out against the idea of deploying NATO troops in Ukraine. According to him, this move would negate the diplomatic way to end the war. This was reported by UNN with reference to La Stampa.
France and Poland cannot speak on behalf of NATO, which has formally and voluntarily stayed out of the conflict from the beginning. Sending troops to Kyiv would be a step toward a unilateral escalation that would negate the path of diplomacy. It makes no sense to put forward these considerations now, after two years of war
Crozetto said that Europe continues to support Kyiv, but "we need to think about how to help it regain freedom, territory and security in a different way - "more decisively use diplomatic means". In this context, the Italian Defense Minister mentioned the recent meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"Now Turkish President Erdogan is on the move, meeting with Zelenskyy. I hope that progress will be made at this table," Crozetto said.
