ISW has recently observed that Russian forces have accelerated the pace of their offensive operations across the theater, including a company-level mechanized attack toward Chasiv Yar on April 4, and continues to assess that the Russian military appears to be mitigating likely increased losses in manpower and equipment
In addition, the ISW report indicates that the Ukrainian military warned that delays in providing security assistance have forced Ukraine to cede the initiative on the battlefield. Also, the lack of ammunition will not allow for successful offensive and defensive operations.
Experts said that delays in military aid are forcing the Defense Forces to make difficult decisions about prioritizing certain aspects of defense by fighting the initiative to limit Russia's military capabilities, as it is not known when the US aid will arrive.
