The US Department of Justice has accused Afghan citizen Farhad Shakeri of plotting to assassinate Donald Trump. The Iranian Foreign Ministry denied the accusations, calling them groundless and aimed at complicating relations between the two countries.

According to court documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice, in September, Iranian officials asked Farhad Shakeri, an Afghan citizen living in Tehran, to focus on surveillance and eventually kill Trump.
However, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the allegations as baseless and rejected them. The ministry also added that “similar accusations have been made in the past, which Iran has strongly denied.
The Ministry said that these statements were a conspiracy aimed at “further complicating the problems between the United States and Iran.
