Kyiv • UNN
Today we celebrate important dates: International Stray Animals Day, World Carrot Day, Webmaster Day, Mine Awareness Day and World Rat Day.

Today, April 4, the world celebrates International Stray Animals Day - an important date designed to draw attention to the problem of stray dogs and cats, writes UNN.
International Stray Animals Day
This is not just a day for four-legged animals, but a reminder of the responsibility of people to those they have tamed.
The purpose of this day is not only to raise awareness of the problem of homeless animals, but also to call for active action. Humane methods of reducing the number of stray dogs and cats, such as sterilization, support for shelters and volunteer initiatives, can significantly change the situation. Taking an animal from the street or a shelter instead of buying from breeders is another way to help.
International Stray Animals Day reminds us that kindness begins with small things - with a bowl of food for a hungry dog, with a warm home for a kitten that needs love.
World Carrot Day
This holiday is relatively young - it was founded in 2003, but it has already gained popularity among connoisseurs of this bright and healthy vegetable.
Carrots are not only a familiar ingredient for soups and salads, but also a real source of vitamins. It contains vitamins A, C, K, group B, potassium and other microelements that strengthen the immune system, improve vision and the work of the cardiovascular system.
Interestingly, carrots are not only orange in color. There are also yellow, red, purple and even white varieties. In ancient times, this vegetable was used as medicine, and carrot juice was considered a real elixir of health.
On this day, festivals, culinary competitions and fairs are held in different countries. Cafes and restaurants add carrot dishes to their menu: from traditional salads to exquisite desserts such as carrot cake. And at home, you can easily prepare healthy carrot juice, carrot puree, or bake root vegetables with spices.

Webmaster Day
This professional holiday is celebrated by webmasters - the people thanks to whom we use convenient websites and applications every day. The date of the celebration was chosen not by chance: the number 4.04 symbolically refers to the well-known 404 error, which means that the page was not found.
Webmaster Day was founded in 2010, although the profession itself appeared in 1992. It was then that the creator of the World Wide Web, Timothy Berners-Lee, introduced the term webmaster, and with the development of the Internet, this sphere began to grow rapidly. Over time, the specialization of webmasters has expanded - now they are not only programmers, but also designers, website administrators, Internet marketers and SEO specialists.
International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action
This day is an important reminder of the deadly threat posed by mines and unexploded ordnance.
The holiday was established by the UN in 2005 to draw attention to the danger of mines, call for an end to the use of explosive devices and search for effective methods of their destruction. For many countries, including Ukraine, this topic is critical: thousands of square kilometers of territory remain contaminated with mines, posing a danger to civilians.
Every year on this day, mine safety training is organized, demining methods are demonstrated, and the rules of conduct in case of detection of suspicious objects are explained. The best way to protect yourself is to be informed.

World Rat Day
This unusual holiday was founded in 2002 in the USA. The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the day of creation of the first Internet resource dedicated to these rodents.
Rats evoke contradictory feelings: some fear them, while others admire their ingenuity. In fact, these animals are extremely intelligent, social and loyal.
