Inflation accelerated to 7.7% - eggs and vegetables became the cheapest, while utility prices increased

Consumer inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 7.7% year-on-year in July from 7.2% in June, according to data from the State Statistics Service, UNN reports.

Consumer market inflation in July 2026 compared with June stood at 0.3%, and compared with July 2025, at 7.7%.

Core inflation in July this year compared with June stood at 0.3%, and compared with July 2025, at 8.1%.

Food and commodity prices

On the consumer market in July, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell by 0.2%, rising by 6.5% year-on-year.

Eggs and vegetables saw the largest monthly price declines (6.0% and 5.9%, respectively). Prices for pork, poultry, cereal products, and lard fell by 1.3–0.6%. At the same time, prices for fruit, fish and fish products, sunflower oil, non-alcoholic beverages, milk and dairy products, bread, pasta, and sugar rose by 1.5–0.6%.

Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose by 1.5%, driven by a 1.8% increase in tobacco product prices.

Clothing and footwear became 4.8% cheaper, including clothing by 5.8% and footwear by 3.5%.

Service costs

The 1.6% monthly increase in prices (tariffs) for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, as stated, was mainly due to increases in water supply tariffs of 31.9% and sewerage tariffs of 29.8%. The annual increase was 4.5%.

Transport prices rose by 1.3% in July (18.6% year-on-year), mainly due to increases in road and rail passenger transport fares of 6.0% and 2.7%, respectively. Fuel and lubricants, as reported, became 0.1% cheaper over the month, while the annual increase was 28%.
