A drunk man detonated a grenade in the yard of fellow villagers in the Budzhak community. The explosion damaged a fence and injured an animal, police have launched an investigation.

In Odesa region, a man allegedly threw a grenade into his neighbors' yard, injuring a dog, but no people were harmed. Police have opened two criminal proceedings, reported the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region, writes UNN.

The incident occurred on April 12 in the afternoon in one of the villages of the Budzhak community. A 36-year-old local resident reported it to the 102 emergency line.

Police preliminarily established that the applicant's 41-year-old fellow villager, while intoxicated, came to her yard and threw an explosive device into it. It exploded, damaged the fence, and injured a dog.

Police, with the involvement of explosive ordnance disposal experts from the regional police, inspected the scene and seized the remnants of the explosive device, presumably a grenade.

They will be sent for forensic examination.

Investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 4 of Article 296 (hooliganism) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanctions of the articles provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years.

Currently, police are working with the suspect. The issue of his detention and notification of suspicion is being decided.

All circumstances of the crime are being established.
