According to the publication, the incident occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. A white van entered the Tiergarten park and drove along Ahornsteig, where, according to preliminary data, it struck or ran over people. After that, the vehicle crashed into a tree. However, the driver also injured several other pedestrians with a bladed weapon.
One woman died. According to Federal Minister of the Interior Dobrindt, 29 people were injured, some of them seriously.
According to the publication, the suspect's identity was established that same night. The police reported that this person was known to them from Berlin's Islamist milieu.
On Sunday morning, law enforcement announced a search for 21-year-old Abdul B. It is also reported that a passenger in the car was detained in connection with the case.
In addition, searches were conducted in the city in connection with the attack.
