"As for Zmeinyi Island, it is clear that in conditions when the enemy cannot control the northwestern part of the Black Sea with a ship and boat force, they are trying to put pressure with aviation," said Humeniuk.
According to her, the Russians try to demonstrate their dominance from time to time, at least in the air.
There were cases when they used tactical aircraft to conduct reconnaissance there and attempted to send guided missiles there, which were unsuccessful. As a rule, they lost their combat capability over the sea, but the very fact that they tried to terrorize this region is more indicative of attempts to disrupt the functioning of the navigation corridor, because the recommended sea routes run along Zmiinyi Island

Zmeinyi Island is important for controlling all maritime traffic in the Black and Azov Seas.
The representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Andriy Yusov reported that Ukrainian intelligence operations at sea are a security issue not only for Ukraine but also for neighboring countries, such as Moldova.
