Georgian president summons Ivanishvili to open debate: why
Kyiv • UNN
Salome Zurabishvili calls on Bidzina Ivanishvili to explain her position on deviating from the Western course. The president accuses the authorities of fulfilling Ivanishvili's order and isolating the country.
Georgian president Salome Zurabishvili challenges billionaire founder and honorary chairman of Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili to an open debate, reports UNN with reference to Georgia News.
"No one can understand where he is, what he wants, why he wants and what he is doing with this country. It should explain "some positions". Let him come to the debate if he considers himself and is considered the main ruler. I am the first person of the state, let him come and sort out the debate," Zurabishvili said at a press conference.
Zurabishvili claimed that the ruling party fulfilled Ivanishvili's order, turning away from the pro-Western path and isolating the country:
"Mr. Ivanishvili did not react to this in any way in front of his society, did not say anything, did not explain anything — why the government, which, as we know, is only a performer, deviated from our course — caused such damage to the country. Isolated the country. This weakened the country…
You remember what happened in the days of gaining status, how everyone congratulated each other, how happy and cheerful everyone was. And all this was trampled on in order to introduce some kind of meaningless and unnecessary law (on foreign agents — "on transparency of foreign influence"). Why? "Did he explain it to anyone?"".
