Farion murder case: court extends preventive measure for Zinchenko until June 8 9 April 2025

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv extended the arrest of Vyacheslav Zinchenko, suspected of murdering Iryna Farion, for 60 days. He will remain in custody until June 8, the next hearing on April 29.
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv has extended the preventive measure for Vyacheslav Zinchenko, accused of the murder of linguist Iryna Farion, by 60 days, reports UNN.

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv held another hearing today, April 9, in the case of the murder of Iryna Farion.
The judge granted the motion to extend the period of detention of the accused without determining the amount of bail.
"…to grant the motion to extend the period of detention without determining the amount of bail for a period of 60 days," the judge said.
Thus, Zinchenko will remain in custody in the pre-trial detention center until June 8 this year.
The next hearing will be on April 29 at 10:00, on Iryna Farion's birthday.

On July 19, 2024, an unknown person shot at linguist and professor of Lviv Polytechnic Iryna Farion. The woman with a head wound was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Iryna Farion died in the hospital.
On July 25 of the same year, an 18-year-old man was detained in Dnipro on suspicion of involvement in the murder of the linguist. The next day, law enforcement officers informed 18-year-old Vyacheslav Zinchenko about the suspicion of murdering Iryna Farion.
Later, law enforcement officers reclassified the Farion murder case as the murder of a person in connection with the performance of her public duty on grounds of national intolerance, and in the illegal handling of weapons. Now Vyacheslav Zinchenko faces life imprisonment.
