At the Uzhhorod checkpoint, a service dog discovered $100,000 in a woman's backpack without documentation. Customs officers seized nearly 4 million hryvnias pending a court decision.

A resident of Zakarpattia attempted to transport 4 million UAH in currency across the border at the "Uzhhorod – Vyšné Nemecké" checkpoint with Slovakia, but she was exposed by a service dog. This was reported by the State Customs Service, according to UNN.

When the service dog Balu sniffed her luggage and gave a signal, the woman became nervous and confessed that she was carrying $100,000 in currency. The cash was found in a backpack among the citizen's personal belongings. She did not provide the necessary supporting documents for the legal movement of currency values across the border

A protocol was drawn up regarding this fact under Part 1 of Art. 471 of the Customs Code. The equivalent of 10,000 euros – $11,700 – was returned to the woman, while the rest of the undeclared currency, which amounts to almost 4 million UAH at the NBU exchange rate, was seized pending a decision.

The sanction of this article provides for a fine in the amount of 20% of the sum exceeding the permitted 10,000 euros.
