China plans to complete the construction and commission seven nuclear reactors this year. This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to data from Chinese state television, writes UNN.

Details

According to a report by the national nuclear energy organization, 60 commercial nuclear reactors are currently operating in the country. Another 36 are under construction, including two projects that started this year. This is the largest volume of nuclear power construction in the world.

China is also significantly increasing its ambitions in the field of nuclear energy. In the new five-year plan, the government set a goal to bring the installed nuclear capacity to 110 gigawatts by 2030.

This is 76% more than the figures at the end of last year. Beijing considers nuclear energy as a key source of stable carbon-free electricity, which should ensure energy security and reduce emissions.
