To ensure the safety of children, shelters are being set up in 90 schools and kindergartens in Kyiv region. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv regional military administration Ruslan Kravchenko on Facebook, UNN reports

Currently, we are equipping shelters in more than 90 educational institutions in Kyiv region. We are building them in 22 schools and a kindergarten, repairing 67 shelters, and planning to install modular shelters in 4 more educational institutions. This will increase the number of places in shelters by more than 16 thousand

- Kravchenko said.

In total, there are currently 1285  shelters in schools and kindergartens in Kyiv region.

The head of RMA also said that recently one of the newly built shelters was opened in  the oldest educational institution in Brovary. This is Lyceum No. 1, which was built in 1938. Today, more than 750 children study here. Since it did not have its own shelter, this lyceum worked in a mixed format. Some of the students were in shelters in nearby residential buildings during the danger. Another part studied in two lyceums in Brovary, which are located nearby.

Now the institution has its own modern and comfortable dual-purpose shelter. It is designed for 250 people. The construction was financed from the state and local budgets

- Kravchenko added.

The shelter has 2 entrances, all conditions for unimpeded access for people with disabilities and other low-mobility groups have been created; a room for a generator, sanitary facilities, a medical unit, a food storage room, and a ventilation system have been equipped.

"The latest missile attacks on Ukraine have once again shown that we cannot ignore the air raid alert and must take cover. Our task is to ensure that all children in the region can attend kindergartens and schools and have a place to hide in times of danger," said the head of the Kyiv RMA.
