Cabinet of Ministers approves strengthening of ARMA's control by empowering the Public Council

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved amendments that strengthen the controlling powers of the Public Council over the National Agency of Ukraine for Asset Recovery and Management (ARMA), including the appointment of members to key bodies, public control over the management and sale of assets, and the provision of opinions on the ARMA's annual report.
Today, the government has approved amendments to the controlling powers of the Public Council, which relate to determining the number and composition of public control and conclusions on the activities of the ARMA. Details
The Draft Law "On Amendments to Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes" regarding strengthening the control powers of the Public Council" was approved.
Therefore, the following is proposed to the Public Council:
- to appoint members of the Public Council, not less than 40 percent of the ARMA disciplinary commission;
- to appoint members of the Public Council as at least 40 percent of the composition of the competition commission for the selection of vacant positions in ARMA;
- to exercise public control over the legality and transparency of the appointment of asset managers, in particular by determining the members of the Public Council who participate in the appointment of asset managers;
- to exercise public control over the legality and transparency of determining the sale of assets and the effectiveness of management of assets transferred to ARMA; to provide conclusions to the annual report on ARMA's activities;
- to determine the members of the Public Council who participate in inspections of the effectiveness of management of seized assets transferred to management; to delegate members of the Public Council to participate in meetings of the interagency commission on asset sales, etc.
