Although some of the changes included in the package may reduce its fiscal impact, the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva insisted on urgent approval of the documents before the start of the parliamentary recess next week.
The Senate supported the first proposal, which prohibits the granting or extension of tax privileges in case of an initial state budget deficit. Discussion of the other two proposals is ongoing.
