According to Sky News, Nadhim Zahavi, a former cabinet colleague of Johnson's who is negotiating the purchase of the publication, discussed the appointment of the former British prime minister to this position with potential investors.

"People involved in the bid for the Telegraph said that Zahavi discussed the idea of Johnson as editor-in-chief of the Telegraph with potential investors in his bid," a source said.

The journalists recalled that Johnson, who now writes columns for The Daily Mail, previously worked for The Daily Telegraph as the newspaper's Brussels correspondent and then as a highly paid columnist.
