The current US President Joe Biden believes that he could have defeated Donald Trump in the US presidential election if he had not refused to participate in it, UNN reports with reference to The Washington Post.

Biden and some of his aides reportedly still believe he should have stayed in the race, despite his poor performance in the debates and low poll numbers that prompted Democrats to pressure him to drop out.
According to people familiar with the comments, who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the private conversations, Biden and these aides have been telling people in recent days that he could have beaten Trump. The aides say the president was careful not to place blame on Harris or her campaign.
However, many Democrats blame Harris's loss on Biden's insistence on staying in the race for so long that by the time he withdrew, Harris had just over three months to campaign. And others argue that Biden broke his own promise by trying to hold on to the presidency rather than pave the way for a younger group of anti-Trump Democrats who could lead the country into the future.
“Biden was running on the promise that he would be a temporary president and essentially have one term before passing it on to another generation. I think his re-candidacy has violated that concept - the conceptual foundation of the theory that he would end Trump's appeal, he would defeat Trumpism and bring about a new era,” said Senator Richard Blumenthal (Connecticut).
To recap
The current US President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump honored the memory of Jimmy Carter. Biden declared a day of mourning, while Trump noted the deceased's contribution to the country's development.
