U.S. President Joe Biden announced a new aid package for Ukraine of nearly $2.5 billion. This is reported by UNN with reference to the White House press service.

Today I am proudly announcing the allocation of nearly $2.5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, as the Ukrainian people continue to defend their independence and freedom from Russian aggression

- said in a statement by Biden.

The assistance "will provide Ukraine with both an immediate influx of forces and means that it continues to effectively use on the battlefield, as well as long-term supplies of air defense, artillery and other critical weapons systems".

"I have instructed my Administration to continue providing as much assistance to Ukraine as quickly as possible, including drawing down outdated U.S. equipment for Ukraine, rapidly delivering it to the battlefield, and then replenishing our defense industrial base to modernize and replenish our stocks of new weapons. The Department of Defense is in the process of delivering hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds, thousands of rockets, and hundreds of armored vehicles to bolster Ukraine in the winter conditions. At my direction, the United States will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen Ukraine's position in this war until the end of my term," Biden emphasized.
