Beat and tortured a fellow soldier: a detained serviceman in Dnipro has been notified of suspicion

In Dnipro, a detained serviceman who beat and tortured a fellow soldier has been notified of suspicion, UNN reports, citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sphere of the Eastern region, a serviceman—a UAV operator of one of the military units in the Dnipropetrovsk region—has been notified of suspicion

— the report states.

Details

According to the investigation, on May 1, 2024, on the territory of a battalion in Dnipro, the suspect, during a formation in the presence of other servicemen, began to publicly humiliate a soldier of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Subsequently, he forcibly pulled the victim out of the formation and began hitting him in the head with his hands, causing him to lose consciousness. After that, the attacker tied the soldier's hands behind his back with plastic zip ties and, taking advantage of his helpless state, inflicted at least 10 blows with his hands and feet to the head and face.

The victim was hospitalized. He was diagnosed with a closed craniocerebral injury, a concussion, numerous bruises, and hematomas.

It was also established that on May 4, the suspect left his place of service without authorization and went into hiding at his place of residence in the Kirovohrad region.

The serviceman was notified of suspicion regarding the violation of statutory rules of relations between servicemen, accompanied by violence and characterized by mockery, torture, and desertion under martial law (Part 2 of Art. 406 and Part 1 of Art. 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)

— the statement reads.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure—detention without the right to post bail—is being decided.
